Training
Planned training
Kilo Papa Aviation plans to offer the services below in the Fort Lauderdale area: private pilot training in a Cessna 152, and instrument training and beyond in a Cessna 172 with advanced avionics. None are bookable yet.
A short introductory flight to experience a small airplane firsthand. It's a good way to find out whether flight training is for you before you commit time and money.
Typically includes:
- A pre-flight briefing and walk-around
- Time in the air over South Florida
- Time to ask questions about what training involves
The private pilot certificate is the usual starting point for people who want to fly for personal travel and fun. Training combines ground knowledge and flight lessons.
Typically includes:
- Ground knowledge: aerodynamics, weather, navigation, regulations, and more
- Flight lessons building from basic maneuvers to solo and cross-country flying
- Preparation for the FAA knowledge test and practical test
Instrument training teaches you to fly by reference to the instruments and operate within the IFR system. Many pilots find it makes them safer and more precise.
Typically includes:
- Instrument procedures, approaches, and IFR flight planning
- Weather decision-making
- Preparation for the FAA knowledge test and practical test
Commercial training raises the standard of your flying and knowledge as a step toward flying professionally.
Typically includes:
- Advanced maneuvers flown to commercial standards
- Expanded aeronautical knowledge
- Preparation for the FAA knowledge test and practical test
A flight review with an instructor, made up of ground and flight time, to keep your flying sharp and help you stay current. Your review can be tailored to the flying you actually do.
Typically includes:
- A ground review of rules and procedures
- Flight time covering the maneuvers and procedures your instructor chooses
- An honest debrief and recommendations
An IPC is for instrument pilots who need to regain instrument currency, or who simply want a structured check of their IFR skills.
Typically includes:
- Review of instrument procedures and approaches
- Flight time focused on IFR tasks
- A debrief with areas to practice
Training requirements are set by the FAA and can change. Details of each program will be confirmed with you directly before any training begins.
